Kirk was before the Court this after* noon on charges of fraudulent bank* ruptcy, and was remanded for a week. Bail was allowed of LBO, and two surtties of a similar amount. Wanganui, October 4. The criminal business concluded this evening;, when a verdict of not guilty was returned in the case against Dr £. H. Marshall for an alleged indecent assault on a young girl. Auckland, October 4. A meeting of the Bootmakers' Union passed a resolution that they fiewed with deep indignation the action of the Legis* lative Council in throwing out the Arbitral iou Bill. The resolution was for* warded to the Minister of Labor. The Auckland ritte team left by the Tarawora to compete at the New South Wales championship meeting. Nkw Plymouth, October 4. The Supreme Court opened this morn* ing. The judge, addressing the Grand Jury, aaid tbero were a larger number of indictments than usual, which embraced embezzlement, forgery, housebreaking, burglary, cattlo and horse stealing, and highway robbery. The Grand Jury retired, and returned true bills against Corkin for horse stealing, and Sisley for cattlo stealing, Cork in pleaded guilty. Nkt.sox, September 25. The Education Board has, on the recommendation of the Town Committee, appointed Mr Gibbs, M.A., head master for the town schools. Dunidin, October 4. A boy, 3J yonm of age, son of Kobert Hyslop, farmer, Akatore, was drowned on Tuesday afternoon.
