Stock Markets
Messrs Gorton and Son report as follows on their sale at Feilding yesterday. Tbe attendance was rather small, owing to tbe bad weather, and biddings were somewhat slack. Hoggets showed a downward tendency, but all tbe sheep were cleared except one pen, and tbe majority of cattle changed hands. We quote:— Fat cows, 10s; fat bullocks, £7 10s ; 2i to 3 year steers, £4 3s; 3to 4 year steers, £4 15s ; 18 months to 2 year heifers, £2 14s : 2i to 3 year heifers, £3 13s 6d ; store cows, £3 10s to £4 ; yearlings to 18 months, £2 lis 6d ; springing heifers, £6 ss. Sheep — Fat ewes, 12s; mixed hoggets, lis 4d to lis lOd ; store wethers, 12s. The draught stallion Young Conqueror was sold to to Mr F. Task, ot Makino. for £00. The Egmont Farmers* Union report : — Our entries of cattle at Mania on the 27th inst fell very short of the ad verm tised numbers. This was to be regretted as most of those present at tbe sale were anxious to purchase stock. Bidding was brisk throughout, and good values weii> realised for every lot sold. We quote--2-year steers. L 3 8s to Lt 6s 6d • springers, L 4 17s Gd to L 7 12s Gd • leifers in calf, L 3 lOs to L 4 15s • f a t jwcs, 12s 3d. '
