•> . MOUNT MORGAN ROBBERY. WIFE OF A PRISONER GOES MAD. < TWENTY - THREE CATTLE STEALERS SHOT. A POLICEMAN SPEARED TO DEATH. ADELAIDE WOOL SALES. (PER press association). Brisbane, This Day. The tenth arrest made in connection with the robbery at Mount Morgan Mines was effected yesterday. A watchman at the smelting works and others are believed to be implicated. The wife of one of the prisoners has gone mud. Perth, September 28. A party of natives at Wyndham were discovered by the police feasting on stolen cattle. The police surrounded the natives, who offered a desperate resistance, but were overmatched and twenty-three were shot. A number of others were taken into custody. Constable Collins was speared to death. A punitive expedition has been despatched to the scene of the trouble. Adelaide. September 27. The wool sales opened yesterday. The competition was keen and the bidding brisk. The prices were equal to last year's. September 2S. At the Science Congress, Sir James Hector read a paper on "The Progress of Geology in the Southern Hemisphere.' A paper on • Education ' was read on behalf of Mr Scott, of Christchurch. Melbourne, September 28. The Speight libel action against The Age has been adjourned until November Ist. Sydney, September 28Alex. Byrson, a lad 13 years of age, for tho murder of George Smith, bus been sentenced to death. Byrson killed Smith because he interfered with him when he was beating a dog.
