Mr Matthew Henry reports :— An average entry of cattle came forward. Sheep in limited numbers. The aitendance was fully up to the usual standard. For all stock, however, bidding was slow and a good deal had to leave the yards unsold. The following are quotations : — Dairy cows in calf, L 4 8* to L 6; yearlings, L 2 12s ; weaners. 355. Sheep — Forword wethers, 14s 3d ; forward ewes, 12s 3d ; hoggets, small, 10s Id. Messrs Abraham k Williams report: — Our transactions in the stock market during the week currpnt have been con., fined to sales at Colyton on Tuesday and Palmerston yesterday. At the former the cattle yards were well filled and sheep mustered up in full numbers, the bulk of the eotry being wethers and hoggets, all of a valuable type. At Palmerston we had a numerous entry of cattle and sheep. Grown steers and store bullocks gener* ally were relatively lower by 7s 6d to 10s per head ; beef more* difficult to quit, a few lots going backwards. Quotations : — Colyton.— Store steers, L 4 18s ; 18---month steers, L 3 5s 6d ; forward bul.-. locks, L 6 10s ; springing heifers, up to L 6 ; aged milch cows, L 3 10s to L_ 18s 6d. Sheep : Store wethers, 13s 8d ; wether hoggets, lis Id ; mixed, 10s Id to 12s. Palmerston. — Fat bullocks made £8 10s ; fat cows, L 5 12s 6d to L 8; grown steers, L 5 6s 6d ; others, L_ lis ; 18---month steers, L3toL 3 5s 6d ; mixed sexes, L 2 17s 6d ; heifers, L 2 19s ; weaner calves, 335. Sheep : Store wethers, 13s; forward do., 13s 6d to 1 -Is ; mixed hoggets, lis 3d to 12s 6d ; others, 9s 6d ; ewes and lambs, lis lid. Gorton and Son's stock report : — We held stock sales both at Awahuri and Marton. We quitted all the sheep at Awahuri, and all the cattle excepting one pen, and we cleared the line of sheep yarded at Marton, excepting one pen of hoggets which did not quite reach the reserve. Our quotations are : — Awahuri — Cattle: Fat bullocks, L 7 10s ; fat cows, L 6 17s ; springing heifers, L 4 17s to L 6 ss; milkers, L 4 12s 6d to L 8; 2-year heifers, L3ls ; 2-year steers, L 3 8s ; yearlings, L 2 12s 6d ; 18 month L 2 16s. Sheep — Fat ewes, 12s (Jd to 13s ; owe hoggets, 128 5d ; mixed hoggets, 9s to lis 3d : fat wethers, 14s 6d. Marton — Store wethers, 13s ; hoggets, lis 6d ; ewes in lamb, 9s 7d to lis.
