Resignation of Bishop Stuart

(PES PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Napier, September 26, Tbe Bynod Diocese of Waipu, which met to-day, had a great surprise sprung upon it by the intimation at the close of tbe Bishop's opening address that he intended to rosign and proceed as a missionary to Persia. He formerly hold an important post in Northern India under the Church Missionary Society but had to leaye India on account of ill-health. Ho felt regret at leaving Now Zealand, where he had so many friends, and nothing but an imperative sense of duty would bave caused him to tako tbis step.
