(I'EB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Marton, This Day. The W.CT.U. here celebrated the enfranchisement of women yesterday by a gift sale and entertainment. The Hall was packed in the evening, and on the motion of Mrs J. Lethbridge a vote of thanks was passed to Sir John Hall and others for their efforts iv securing the franchise to women. Curistc'hcrcii. September 2G. Up to the present 3500 claims for enrolment havo been received from the women of Sydenham. "Wellington, September 20. At a meeting of tho Women's Association called to discuss tho franchise* question, Mrs J. Plimmer presided. The hall was crowded, and a resolution thanking Sir J. Hall, Sir Robert Stout, Hon R. Oliver, A. Saunders, and other membors ( of the Legislature, was carried, Sir J. , Hall and Sir R. Stout replied, referring to the great social reform and urging women to have their names attached to ( the rolj. Tbo utmost onthusiasm was j shown.
