Women's Franchise
(PRB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) New Plymouth, September 25. Fifteen hundred registration forms were issued by the Registrar of Electors to-day for the purpose of registering women. A meeting of women is conrened for Thursday to form a committee for registering erery woman in the district. Auckland, September 25. The women's franchise was referred to yesterday in most of the pulpits. Bishop Covrie spoke eulogistically of the more* ment. Fifteen hundred women have enrolled in the city. Palmebston N m This Day. About 250 claims to vote from women were received by the Palmerston Regis* trar up to yesterday. Nelson, September 25. A monster meeting of women was held in the Theatre Royal to-night. The speakers were Mrs A. S. Atkinson, Miss Crump, Mrs Tullock, Mrs Barker, and Revs Chatterton] (Anglican) and T. Bray (Baptist). Woodville, Sept. 24. Women here have formed a committee to canvass tha district, and place the names of their sex on the electoral roll. Dunedin, September 25. The enfranchisement of women was referred to in most of the city churches yesterday, the bulk of the clergy favour ing the reform. Over 2000 claims have been lodged in the city. Oamabu, September 25. A publio meeting was held to-night, principally for the purpose of enrolling | women. Speeches were delivered, and j over 150 women were enrolled. Chbistchukch, September 25. A great thanksgiving meeting and gathering for the enrolment of women was held to-night. The meeting accorded Sir John Hall, Messrs Saunder?, Oliver, Downie Stewart, Pollen and others, its appreciation of their valuable services, and heartily congratulated Sir John Hall on having seen the reform carried before his retirement from political life. ___^^^___
