; Messrs Abraham and Williams rei port : — At Palmerston yesterday we : yarded up a full muster of cattle. Beef, male stock, and young cattle kept their i • value. The downward tendency in ' heifers and coirs experienced at our last ; sale was again apparent. The fat wethers which were represented in one line only, • were from fair to good mutton, carrying an excellent fleece. For hoggets there 1 was an unsatisfied demand ; of those offered the quality ranged from medium to good. We quote : — Cattle — Prime cows, L 7 -is 6d to L 7 11s ; fat bullocks, light to rather below medium weights, L 7 7s (3d to L 7 15s ; forward bullocks, L 5 10s ; 3«ycar steers, L 4 lUs to Lo Is ; 2 year do, L 3 13s to L' 3 Ids ; mixed yearlings, L 2 18s 6d ; small weaners, 355: springing heifers, L 5 2s; store cows, L 3 16s 6d to LI. Sheep— Fat wethers, 15s ; hoggets, 10s 7d to 12s 2d ; small 2»tooth ewes, 11s 4d ; store wethers, 13s 5d ; aged forward ewes, 9s 2d. At Woodville, on Tuesday, the wet weather placed the stock at a disadvantage, aDd reduced the entries. The bulk was quitted. Mr Orniond's heifers made up to L 5 ss. On Account of other clients store rows made from L 3 10s, and store wethers from 10s 9d to 11s fid. Mr Matthew Heury reports: — There was a very largo entry of cattle at the Manawatu Live Stock Auction Market, composed principally of female stock. Bidding was dull, young cattle being the only stock that was competed for. Cattle— 2-year steers, 1A ; weaners, 29s 6d to L 2 13s ; forward cows, L 4 16s ; fat cows, L 5 ; milk cows, L 5 to L 6. Sheop — f.m. ewes and lambs, 13s.
