Feilding Borough Council.

A special meeting of the above was held yesterday evening, for the purpose of discussing the revised bye-laws and other business. Present — Mr E. Goodbehere (Mayor), and (Jrs. Morey, Fowles, Sandilands, Lethbridge, and Chamberlain. ; A letter was read from Mr Fairfield Thompson, complaining that rubbish was thrown into the pit opposite the ! writer's front door, and requesting the Council to give instructions to have the nuisance abated. It was resolved, That the Inspector of Nuisances be instructed to inspect the gravel pit opposite Mr Fairfield Thompson's, and report as to whether there is any cause for his complaint. Resolved, That applications be invited for the position of Inspector of Nuisances. Tenders to state the remuneration inquired. Proposed by Cr. Sandilands, seconded by Cr. Chamberlain, That the Mayor be hereby authorized to sign an order requiring the occupier of that position of section 271 facing Kimbolton road and Stafford street, to abate the nuisance complained of by the Inspector of Nuisances in his report, and that failing his immediate compliance with such order, the said occupier be proceeded against with a view to the infliction of a penalty, and the compelling the due observance of said order. — Carried. The Council then went into committee to discuss the revision of the bye-laws
