Frozen Meat for the English Army
THE MEN SURPRISED AT ITS GOODNESS. [pee press association.] London, September 13. In Committee of Supply, in a discussion on an amendment to reduce the Army vote, Mr Robert William Hambury, member for Preston, protested against the system of giving the troops GO per cent, frozen meat, supplied at 4Ad per lb. Mr H. Campbell Bannerman, Secretary of State for the War Department, replied that the soldiers liked the frozen meat, and the department had received no complaints as to the quality of the rations. He declared that if the army were canvassed it would be found that the men were surprised at the goodness of their food. Mr William Woodall, member for Hanley, said the frozen meat was as nutritious as could bo wished. The amendment was rejected by a majority of 110. ____. «_«. .
