(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, September 9. Mr J. Holmes has been appointed flax grader to the Wellington Flaxmillers 1 Association. He has been connected with the trade for 16 years. Sir John Lawes, through Stanley and Co., has offered the Agricultural Society a challenge shield for competition as the Societj deem best for the promotion of agriculture in Otago. Prizes are to be awarded for the two best managed farms, from 100 to 400 acres and the other from 400 to 1000 acres. The shield to be won thnco before becoming the absolute pro* perty of the winner.
