Palmers ton Hospital Board

The monthly meeting of the abore Board was held at Palmerston yesterday Present — Messrs Snelson (chairman). Taylor, Saxon, Park, liavenhill, Goodbe . here, Lethbridgo, ftansomr. Dr Macgregor and Mr Bruce, M.H.R., wrote stating that they would give the Board all the assistance they could iv connection with the passing of the Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Empowering Billl. 1893. The Kiwitea Road Board and Pohangina Road Board forwarded sums of LSB 12s Gd and L 23 10s 3d respectively, being amount of Hospital and Charitable rate due. The special committee appointed by the Board to consider the applications received for the position of matron re* commended Miss Dougherty, of Wellington, as being the most suitable. On the motion of MrGoodbehere, seconded by Mr Lethbridge it was resolved that the recommendation be adopted, and that Miss Dougherty's salary be L 75 per annum, the agreement to be terminable at a month's notice. The chairman said it was nece«sary to appoint a medical officer for the Hospital and he suggested that Drs Macintire and Porter be appointed at LSO per annum. On the motion of Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, it was resolved, That the position of hospital surgeons be offered to Drs Macintire and Porter for one year at LSO per annum for the iirst Accounts were passed for payment, aud the Board adjourned.
