We observe that the Wairarapa Daily Times is very wroth because the Commissioner of Taxes is inviting applications for an officer to be an accountant, who is to " make an examination of books and accounts when it shall be expedient to have such an investigation to ascertain income." Our contemporary opines this means that a smart man is to travel round the country poking his nose into people's books in order to ascertain tlieir incomes. This is the cloven foot of the income tax to which the public in this colony are about to be introduced. This is alss what some people like, because it is "Liberalism."
