-+ [from our own corrbspondent.] Mr Corpe's butter factory has been delayed opening for a day or two, owing to some fault in the working of the separator, but the factory is expected to start to day. Messrs Mud ford Bros, sustained a heavy loss in sinking an artesian well on the aboye premises, as after driving about 200 feet one of the pipes became bent, and the work had to be abandoned and a new drive started. Owing to the wet weather a number of farmers have given up the idea of putting in wheat, and are going to sow oats in consequence of the season being so far advanced and the fear of a dry summer. Mr G. Dear has no less than eight of his family laid up with measles. A most enjoyable social gathering was held last night at Mr H. P. Thompson's, about thirty-five being present. Mr G. Hunt presided, and a good programme was gone through. The Rey. G. Clement deliyered an instructive address, which was much appreciated. A number of parlour games were indulged in, musical items, solos, and recitations given. About 9 o'clock the company partook of a coffee supper, proyided by the younger members of the Primitive Methodist congregation, a small charge being made, the proceeds of which are to be devoted towards renovating the interior of the Primitive Methodist Church,
