Mr Francis Adams really committed suicide with a revolver, tbough it was . given out at first that he had died of consumption. The jury returned a verdict of insanity. Lieut. Hamborough inherited a quarter ; of a million sterling. He left Mrs M onson, wife of the man in custody on the charge of murdering him, a sum of £20,000. Deceased was buried at Ventnor on the South coast of the Isle of Wight. The post mortem examination |of the body strengthens the charge of murder against ; Monson. There are 22 cholera patients in Grimsby. Sir Robert Herbert will act as Tasmanian Agent-General in London. Henry Ide succeeds Baron Cedercrantzas as Chief Justice of Samoa. At the inquest on the body of Francis Adams, Mr* Ad-tms declared the deceased broke a blood vessel, and finding himself choking shot himself with a revolver. She was present, but was powerless to prevent the deed. Adams was in great pain, and as the case appeared to be hopeless he appealed to her to allow him to die quickly. She had previously removed deceased's false teeth at his request. The jury in returning a verdict of suicide regretted the action of the wife in not taking steps to prevent her bus band killing himself. Several deaths from cholera are recorded in Constantionaple. The disease is decreasing in Galicia, Hungary, Miners' rtots have broken out in Alfreton, Dereyshire, and the troops have been despatched to reinforce the police and the Riot Act was read. The men are still out in Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, and the houses of several workers have been wrecked. Rioting has also taken place in Barnsley, Yorkshire, where the miners ill-treated the manager of a mine, aud wrecked the colliery office. They also set fire to a coal train and attempted to run trucks on the main line in order to cause an accident. Washington, September 6. In the Senate the members interested in silver are adopting obstructive tactics in order to defeat the repeal of the Sherman Act. Paris, Bept. 6. The Carriage in which Madame Melba was driving today met with an accident, and Madame had her ear and face cut, but otherwise escaped injury.
