Uncle Tom's Cabin
The Uncle Tom's Cabin Dramatic Company open here on Monday night in Mrs Harriet Beecher Stowe's Moral and Religious Drama, " Uncle Tom's Cabin." The Company is here for one night only. The Company, who have just finished a most successful season at the Opera House, Wellington, are strong m numbers as well as histironic ability, Miss Fanny Wiseman having been engaged to play her original character " Topsy " as played by her for over 1,000 times in America, England, and Australasia. Mr Harry Thomas, of the Dick Sawyer Conipanv, will play " Uncle Tom." The difficult rolo of little Eva is undertaken by little May who is advertised as the L' Enfant Prodige. The remaining characters are filled by a specially selected company. A special feature of the above drama is the introduction of Jubilee hymns, Negro melodies and songs. Lovers of sacred music should not miss seeing the above, as they are promised a treat in the way of a specially trained quarette, who sing the beautiful hymns — viz., " Nearer My God to Thee," " Under the Cross of Jesus," otc. Tho Wellington press speak most highly of the above company; and wo feel sure we can do no more than advise all to go and see them* The organisation is under the direction of Mr A. Brandon Cremer, with Mr Walter Clifford as advance courier.
