The Geyser on Mount Egmont.
[r-KR PBKSS ASSOCIATION.] Wkllington, September 4. Sir Jaß. Hector has received the following telegram from Mr Geo. A. Hurley, of Manaia, in connection with the reported discovery of a geyser on Mount Eguiont : — " I have just been informed by a man named Michael Mannix that he has discovered a boiling spring on the slopes of Mount Egmont not far from the forest reserve line, and in about a northwesterly direction from M anaia. He says that the spring is about the size of a man's body, and when he saw it, it was bubbling about 2 feet above the level of tho ground. He was out shooting and bad no slasher with him to blaze the track, and consequently thinks they will have considerable difficulty in finding the spot, but he intends in a day or so to make a search, and has promised me samples of water, which I will send to you for analysis. For eight years smoke or steam was seen in the direction indicated, but it has not been definitely recognised of late."
