Correspondence
(Wo nrr not responsible for tho opinions of our correspondents.) MR. ANDERSON IN REPLY TO MR. SHEARER. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sib, — Not being animated by any controversial spirit, I had entertained a strong hoDe that Mr Shearer's reply (save the mark) would have been at least truthful. Under such circumstances I did not intend to further pursue a disagreeable subiect. But, as Mr Shearer still perseveres in hisdisingenuous statements, I feel compelled, in self-defence, to vindicate my previous remarks, by challenging him to meet me face to face, before the Lodge Deputy or Secretary, for Mr Shearer appears to be in a sort of mist as to who it was who gare him his alleged permission, Mr Shearer adopts a very "high fallutm" tone, altogether out of place, about his swperiority to '• wasting life " on paltry matters, etc. How silly ! All I require is that he will, at least on this occasion, descend to the paltry level of truth. — I ana, etc., A. W. Anderson. Feilding, September 4th, 1893.
