Drew, a member of the well-known mercantile firm of Macready, Drew, «nd Co., of Melbourne, was arrested on n. charge of being concerned in the embezzlement of ten thousand pounds. The firm were agents for a Paris firm, who sent out an agent to investigate accounts, with the result that ten thousand pounds are unaccounted for. Macready is believed to be in London, and Bruce another partner, has gone to Naples. The decrease of £60,000 in the revenue is for August, as compared with last year, not for the quarter.
