Telale and O'Shea, officials of the Imperial Banking Company, were sentenced to four years each for embezzlement. Brisbane, This Day. The New South Wales football team defeated the next 18 of Queensland by 11 to C, but, though the visitors won, the home team had all the best of the game. Hobabt, This Day. The Colonial Treasurer stated in the Assembly that the revenue was declining at a rate beyond all anticipations. The Ministry will probably carry all their taxation proposals, and primage duty will be increased to 3 per cent. Sydney, This Day. The Daily Telegraph says that of all the political experiments of which New Zealand has been the theatre, the granting of female suffrage will prove one of the most interesting, and the coming elections will be fraught with deep interest to Australians. His Excellency the Governor, in the course of v spoech at Singleton, said that sinco coming to Australia nothing bad struck him as more detrimental to the progress of tho Austruliuu colonies than the tariff baniors between the different colomos. Though it was not his province to intermeddle in politics, yot while prominent men in various colonies united in dououncing the system ho felt justified in attending to the matter.
