"The Messiah"
The Theatre Royal at Pnlmerston was packed la*t night, when Handel'n master* pioce was tfircn by (he Wesley tin choir and friends, under tlio conductorship of Mr J. Grace The soloists were Misses Grace nnd F. Mowlem, Mc^daroOH Nanneatad, Kendall, Jones, Watson, Thump* son. and Mcssm Prousc and Lucas. Mrs H. S. Fitzherbert presided at the piano, and Mi** Mowlem and Mr IJarrettstthc organ Mr J. Ishcrwood acted as lender of the o'CMßHtra. The choruses went remarkably well, nnd the solo singing wa* rery Rood, the ladies being particularly succcsuful. Mr Prou«e wna in uiagnifi* cent roice, and Mr A. P. Lucas' sweet tenor waa heard to great advantage The orcheitra too accomplished wonders, considering the few opportunities they hare had for concerted practice ; and, altogether, the performance was one which nil the participants may well fed proud of.
