ENGLISH PLIES S ON THK TEAM
(PI'H PBKSS A«fOCIATION.) London, August 28. The Standard, commenting on the all-England match, says the performance of the Australians at Manchester was one of their best of the tour. It considers their record for the season is satisfactory. The .Sportsman considers it would be unfair to allege the Colonials saved defeat by " the call of time," as the game was going in their favor at the finish, all the best bats but Shrewsbury being out. The Daily News says that though the Australian team is a powerful one, j i*. is not equal to the best sides England can put in the field, and the honors of the tour will rest with the English cricketers. The newspapers dilate on Turner's pluck in continuing to bat with a crippled hand.
