(I'ER PRESS ASSOCIATION). j Wellington, August 28. House of Representatives. The House met at 7.30. After nearly two hours debate the House went into committee on the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill. Clause 17, industrial agreements j between the unions, associations, and persons. — Mr Moore moved an amendment to the effect that free labourers could take advantage of the Bill in the same way as trade unions. Mr Reeves opposed the y.mendment, pointing out that if several of those men joined together they could be admitted as Industrial Unions. The amendment was lost by 33 to 18 and the clause added to the Bill. Clause 48, Constitution of Court. — Mr lleeves moved for the retention of the provision struck out by the Labor Bills Committee, which allowed a District Judge to be president of the Court in case of illness or absence of the Supreme Court judge. The words were retained on a division by 31 to 16. The remaining clauses of the Industrial Conciliation A rbitration Bill were passed without material alteration, and after a short debate the business was put through its final stages. 'ihe Workmen's Wages Bill was committed without material amendment, and read a third time and passed. The Hon. Mr Reeves moved the second reading of the Conspiracy Law Amendment Bill, which he explained was in the direction of assimilating our law to that of the Mother Country. The motion was agreed to and the Bill referred to the Labor Bills Committee. The House rose at 1*2.25.
