The French Elections
j TRIUMPHANT SUCCESS of THE ! REPUBLICANS. (I>.B PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Pahis, August 22. A hundred and fifty-five second ballots will be taken on September 3rd. M. Ktienne was re-elected, but MM Clemenceau and Do Cassagnac will have to await a second ballot. The Rig'at has suffered a complete defeat, as also have the Boulangists and the men wbo sought to make capital out of the Panama scandal. Among the latter was M. Delahaye, who first brought the charges of corruption before the Chamber, Comto De Mun defeated M. Jfouvier. M M Deloncle, Bourgeois, and Wilson, ex- President Grcvy's son-in-law, are elected. There is little excitement ovor the elections. The Republicans have gained 03 spats and lost none, while the Royalists have lost 50. The results of the French elections up to the present are— Republican 312, Badicals and Socialists 30, Rallies (a section who accept Republicanism as inevitable) 13. Conservative Ifl.
