THE TIMES ON MR GLADSTONE. PROTESTANTS V. CATHOLICS. 350 AMENDMENTS TO THE HOME RULE BILL. [per fbess association.] London, August 21. The Times says that, by his resort to the closure, the Premier has incurred the nations resentment. Tho Standard characterises his action as marching through despotism to failure. The Premier intends to suspend the rule respecting new business after midnight tonight, in hope of passing the closure resolution at one sitting. A rigorous crusade is being carried on by th«* Catholics ot Connotunra against the Protestants, and many outrages are reported. There are still twenty-nine pages of amendments to the Home Rule Bill loft untouched. Notices have been given of no less than 850 amendments upon going into Committee of Supply.
