MORE RIOTS AND STRIKES. (PKK I'BESS ASSOCIATION.) Paris, August 16. M. Lockroy is recovering from the effects of the pistol short fired at him by a cabman. London, August 10. The Welsh miners have rejected the proposed sliding scale, and they demand a2O per cent, advance. They are march • ing upon Rhondds, and compelling men in the district to join in the strike. The Scotch mine owners have conceded the shilling advance. Two hundred Boldiers are now stationed in Ebbw Vale. Twenty-five strikers were arrested last night. The ballot of the Northumberland miners was averse to a strike. Serious trouble is being experienced with the Welsh miners. The troops are called out and the police are protecting the workmen.
