Manchester Cricket Club
A meeting of members of the above Club was held at the Manchester Hotel yesterday evening. Mr Beade was voted to the chair. The Chairman explained that the object of the meeting was to consider a communication from Mr A. H. Tompkins, of the Halcombe Club, suggesting that, in the interests of cricket, it would be advisable to form a union of the various Manawatu and Bangitikei Clubs. Mr Tompkins in his letter proposed that the union consist of the following clubs :— Marton, Bulls, Sandon, Campbell town, Awahuri, Feilding, Manchester, Colyton, Halcombe, and Birmingham ; and added that a well-known cricketer had offered a donation of £5 towards a cup for competition. Besolved, That the Manchester Club is in favor of forming a Union, and that Mr Burlace be appointed the delegate to represent this Club at the Union meetings. It was suggested that meetings of the Union be held at alternate centres. Besolved, That a copy of the above resolutions be sent to Mr Tompkins, and that it was advisable in the opinion of those present ; That the Palmerston Club be asked to join the proposed Union. Tne proceedings then aoncluded.
