Leecb, second officer of the ship Durbridge, who was the principal witness against the chief officer and steward, on the charge of murdering Capt. Little, has been charged with perjury, but the information was dismissed. August 13. The Agricultural Gazette says the wheat orop is the worst since 1879. The H.M.S. Triumph has arrived at Portsmouth with the survivors of the Victorian disaster on board. Many affecting scenes were witnessed when the men landed. Five thousand miners in Cumberland lmve gone oat on strike. Colonel Colville and two other officers have started from Uganda to command the Soudanese. Capetown, August 11. The Kaffirs at Barberton are becoming troublesome, and are upbraiding the British, owing to the report that the Boers are to govern Swaziland. Cairo, August 11. The Khedive and Einz Pasha, the Premier, have quarrelled, and a crisis is impending. Berlin, August 12. The Emperor has decided to make Dantzio a free port. Belgrade, August 12. The advent of the Radical party to power has led to a great increase of crime in the- country, and 29 murders, at* tributed to political motives,, haye been recorded in four months.
