The girl Guinan, connected with the serious charge of illegal operation, etc., was arrested last night, her securities having aßked to be relieved of responsibility. The girl Guinan was again before the Court, and was remanded to gaol, bail not being applied for. H.M.S. Lizard had a rough passage from Sydney. The decks were almost always under water. Several of the sails were either blown to pieces or split up. The rate of progress was very slow, and on one day, not more than 10 miles were made. The Lizard replaces H.M.S. Katoomba upon the New Zealand station. Gisborkf, August 7. The body of the young; man A. J. Jopp, sheep farmer, at W&imatn. who was drowned on the 18th ult., on Saturday floated to the surface at the spot where he entered the riror. At the inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. Auckland, August 5. The girl Florenco I'arkes, who took 1 Bough on Rats ' recently, was bound over in sureties to keep the peace towards herself. Timaku, This Day. Arthur G. Cox, third son of the late Alfred Cox, a well known old colonist, met with a trap accident at Geraldine, and died this morning.
