A Correction
Our report of tho special meeting of the Borough Council, omitted to state that in addition to Cr Lethbrigo, the Mayor, and Cra Carthew, Chamberlain, Sandiiands, and Gould, ail spoke in favor of rebuilding South street bridge should it be shown that Buch was tho wish of the majority of the ratepayers. Cr Morey, the mover of the motion to consider a drainage scheme for tho Borough, was unable to attend the meeting, hence his motion lapsed. Tins considerably alters tho position, and shows that, as regards tho drainage scheme, the councillors were acting in accordance with the recognised custom in aucli case*, which precludes tho consideration of a motion, the mover of which is alpont from the meeting called to discuss it. We are very pleased to bo ablo to make this correction, because it enables us to withdraw the inference, deduced fruni tho report in question, thfe several of the councillors were opposed to the legitimate progress of the town.
