Oddfellows' District Meeting

The half-yearly District meeting of Oddfellows, 1.0.0.P., M.U., in the Wanganm District, was held at Palmerston yesterday. The following were present : - Officers— G.M. Bro Copeland ; D.G.M". Bro J. Paul ; C.S., P.P.G.M. Bro Hood. Delegates— Loyal Wanganui Lodge— PP.tt.M.'s Bros J. Wright, J. Qoinn, Bamber, G.M. Bro Salek. Loyal Manchester Lodge- P.P.G.M. Bro N&, PS. Bro Parker. Loyal Manawata Lodge— P.P.G.M.'s Bros W. T. Wood, S. J. Relf. P.G. Bro B. Eelf, and N.G. Bro Trask. The G.M. in his opening remarks naid after the usual business had been tram sacted the proposed new by-laws would be brought up for consideration. There were some important alterations suggested, one being the reduotion of the initiation fee by 60 per cent. The district balance-sheet, showing a oredit balance of £157 6s 4d, was read and adopted. The balance-sheets of the Loyal Wanganui Lodge, Loyal Manchester Lodge and Loyal Manawata Lodge were also read and adopted. Reference was made to tho slow progress which the Manchester Lodge was making, but at the same time the Lodge was to be congratulated on the economic manner in which it was worked. It was decided that a levy be made to the management fund of Is, also a levy of Is to the sick and funeral fund over all the district. P.P.G.M, Bro Nix said there were a numbor of old Oddfellows residing in the district who, although too old to join a lodge, would be very glad to pay their medical pence into the Orcer, and get the benefit of the doctor for their wives and families. After some discussion, the matter was allowed to drop It was resolved to make the scale of initiation as follows:— 16 years and under 20, 7s 6d ;20 and under 22, 10s : 22 and under 24. 12s 6d ; 24 and under 26, log; 26 and under 28, 17s 6d ; 28 and under 30, 20s ; 30 and under 32, 22s Gd ; 32 and under 34, 255 ; 34 and under 86, 27s 6d ; 36 and under 38, 30s ; 38 and under 40s, 32s 6d; 40 and under 42, 355 ; 42 and under 44, 37s 6d ; 44 and under 45, 40s It was resolred that the sick pay be £1 per week for the first three months, 15s for second three months, and 10s for remainder of sickness The contributions for the sick and funeral fund were mado to commence from 16 at 7 3d per week and a gradual rise of l|d.
