The Feilding Star. Published Daily. FRIDAY, JULY 21, 1893. Bunnythorpe Tram Service
We think it is quite within tbe province of the Feilding Borough Council to come to the assistance of the . Bunnythorpe settlers iv tho matter of train service. Too much cannot be ; done to make the transit of passengers aud goods rapid aud convenient. At • present when people residing nt or near Bunnvtborpe desire to visit Feilding by train they can only do • so by the early morning service, aud return by tho last train at night. If tbe mail train stopped at Bunnythorpe to pick up and drop passengers and mails only, the time lost would be but five minutes. Instead of a settler losing a whole day, as he is forced to under tho present system, he would theu be able to run up to Feilding at noon, and be back at Bunnythorpe by half-past four iv the afternoon, thus effecting a clear saving of more than half a working day. At present a number of the farmers use their own vehicles in which to visit town, and they would not be likely to discou- , tinue them under any circumstances, but we feel confident that if the wishes of the Buunythorpe people were carried out, a new aud profitable passenger traffic would be created 9 between that rising township and Feildiog. At anyrate, we are sure that the Commissioners would not lose one penny of revenue. There will be a meeting of the Feilding Borough Council on the 27th mßtant, and we would suggest that the same deputation which waited on the Hailway Manager interview the Councillors and invite their holp, which we feel assured would be froely . rendered. _______—_ ' t ; t l I r i ' ' I , i j - \ j j , • ; .
