The damage by the fire in St. Mary Axe is now estimated at half a million Staff-Commander Smith said Admiral Tryon's last words, just before the ship went down, were addressed to amid-ship-man on the bridge, to whom he said : 11 Don't stop, youngster. The decision of the Chinese Government not to punish the murderers of the Swedish missionaries has caused considerable alarm among the foreign residents in Shanghai.
