(PER PBESB ASSOCIATION). WELLINGTON, July 13. A most dastardly assault was com* mitted last night on a young man named Graham White, and he was robbed of 38a. Three men G. McKenzie, J. 13allins and Jas. Douglas were this morning charged with the offence, McKenzie, who had turned Queens evidence was acquitted, the others remanded until Tuesday. Accused are recent arrivals from Australia. A subscription list in connection with the Ballance memorial fund is in circulation amongst members of tho House of Representatives. The AJimsters headed the list witn a donation of £30. Archbishop Redwood left for Aucklund this afternoon to catch tho 'Frisco mail steamer. He tttends the Congress of Bishops at Chicago. Mr T. McCarthy, Chairman of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company, left by the same steamer en route for England. A Conference of School Inspectors on the subject of bringing the inspection and examination of primary and secondary schools under the control of the Education Department and issuing a new code of instructions to Inspectors, and requiring uniform standard examinations, will be held here earlj in 1894. Wanganui This Day. Isabella Gray, daughter of Robert Gray, who was missed from home at breakfast time this morning was found dead in a small creek near the house at Long Acre Valley. Deceased was 25 years of age. There is no theory as tc how the fatality occurred.
