NEW ZEALANDERS IN AUSTRALIA.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Sydney July 6. The weather was fine for the match against Newcastle on Thursday, and the attendance was good. -Stuart kicked off, and the game was at once taken to their opponents' twenty- five. Shannon received a pass and scored, Jorvis converting. Shortly afterwards New Zealand was forced down for the first time during the tour. Just before half-time Jervis potted a goal. In tbe second spell the New Zealanders made things lively, and tries were scored by Bayley, Lambie, Shannon, and Speight, two of which Jervis converted. From a penalty kick New - castle were awarded a goal, and the game ended : New Zealand. 25 points ; Northerners, 3. Shannon played a great game, and Butland, Jervis, Btuart, and Lambie were of great sorvice to the visitor?. The passing and collating was first-class.
