Birmingham Cncket Club Concert
The concert in the Birmingham Town Hull on Saturday evening was a great succeHs notwithstanding the very inclement weather. The attendance was •jood, much larger indeed titan was expecttd, oonsiiltTiiitf ilu- ihul^i mylit, and the Mill rougher ro<ds. 1 h.- c!nb will net between four and five pounds from the proceeds of the concert, after paying all expenses, including a supper for the performers at the clow of the concert. Mr T. A. Bryce occupied the chair, and introduced tbe performers. The programme, with the ezoeption of two items, consisted entirely of eong*, all biiug rtry well received, encores being the order of the evening. Where every item was so well rendered it is needless to particularize any one, except perluips in the case of Mr Stevens, who is a new arrival in Birmingham, his rich bass voice being heard to great advantage in the songs •• The M igh ty Deep, " " The Ligh (house Keeper, ' * and the comic " Father O'Flynn." The following programme was then gone through: Song, '• Whtn all nature smites Again," Miss Carter; Mrs Fowler socompanist. Song, •« Big Ben," Mr Baynes ; Mia Lowes accompanist. Song, "The Little Hero," Mr Birks; Mr Baynes accompanist. Song, " The Mighty Deep," Mr Stevens ; >f r Baynes accompanist. Song, " The Billge,"Mrs Munro; Mr Baynes accompanist. Dialogue, " King Edward and the Earl of Warwick," Messrs Most and Hedge*. Bong, " The Last Mile Home," Miss Lowes ; Mrs Fowler accompanist. Recitation, " Kissing Cup's Race," Mr Moss. Duet (vocal), "Miserere Domini," Mrs Fowler and Miss Lowes, who gave " Tbe Lily and the Rose " in response to an encore. Song, " Sweet Violets," Mrs Munro. Song, " The Lighthouse Keeper," Mr Stevens, and in response to an encore, " Father O'Flynn." Song, " Kerry Dance," Miss Carter. Song, " The White Squall," Mr Birks. The chairman at this stage, on behalf of the cricket dab, thanked those present for their attendance and the performers for the parta they had taken, and a most enjoyable conoert was brought to a close by the company singing the National Anthem.
