THIS DAY. (Before Mr. Brabant, R.M.) Henry Rutherford v. Elijah Short, claim £4/16/7 for goods supplied. Mr Sandilands for the plaintiff. Judgment by confession for the amount claimed, with 6/ costs. Morey & Co. v. Mrs E. Turner, claim £1/5/6. Mr Sandilands for the plaintiffs. Judgment for the amount claimed with costs. Thomas Perm v. A Munro, claim £26/16, under a judgment summons. Mr Prior who appeared for the plaintiff, stated that judgment was obtained in this case last October. Defendant had since paid ±13/3 and declined to pay the balance. His Worship ordered that the defendant pay to the Clerk of the Court within three days the sum of £13/13/, in default of payment to be imprisoned in Wanganui gaol for fourteen days. T. R. Taylor v. Tapini, claim £9/7/6, under a judgment summons. The defendant was ordered to pay the amount within three days to the Clerk of the Court, otherwise to be imprisoned for ten days in the Wanganni gaol. G. E. Pike v. Rnera te Nnkn, claim £2/18/1. Mr Prior for the plaintiff. Judgment was given for the amount claimed with 8/ costs. W, F. Elkington v. E. C, Brewer, claim £12/11/5. Mr Richmond for the plaintiff, There was no appearance of the defendant against whom judgment was gi yen for the amount claimed, with 25/ costs, and 21/ solicitor's fee. G. B Bradford v. W. Baker, claim 12/6. Mrj Sandilands for the plain tiff. Judgment was given for the amount claimed, with 6/ costs. Cobbe and Darragh v. W. Chandler, claim £8/8/. Judgment for the amount claimed, with 10/ costs, and 21/ solicitor's fee. Same v. Joseph Elliott, claim £5/6/4. Judgment was given for the amount claimed with 10/ costs, solicitors fee 21/. Mr Sandilands appeared for the plaintiffs in both cases. 0. Bull v Hone Waitere, claim £69 7s 6d on a promissory note and interest, Mr Saudilands for tho plaintiff and Mr Esani for the defendant. Ar Esani admitted th© principal was due, but contended there was no legal claim for interest undor the Act. Mr Sandilands haying replied. His Worship, iv delivering judgment, said a note payable on demand must be presented to outitle t » iv tores t. It does uot seem just that plaintiff should recoivo interest, and there is nothing on the bill to show that interest should I c charged and tho obligation should be clearly ex plumed in Maori language on the bill itsolf. Judgment would be given for tho plaintiff for the amount of the noto £49 14s 9J, with £2 costs of court, £2 2s solicitor's fee, and ISs 9d interpreter, s fee Samo v Peru Keikauu, claim LBO -Is sd. on a promissory note with accrued iutorest thereon. Tho some counsel appeared as iv tho abovo cuse. Plaintiff con son tod to a vnliot, for Lso 3d 1 1 vi amount of tbo bill, with L' 26s costs <>f court, solicitor's f<;e L-J .'Js, interpreter's fee 10s 6d against the defendant. A. K. I3luudell charged Frederick McBeth witb offering sheep for sale iv foe ted with lico in Birmingham salojurds on tho 7th inst. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 20s with 7s costs of court. Same v Albert Mcßoth. Tho charge was of a similar naturo to the above. Defendant was lined 20s with 7s costs. Same v Charles Crubb. In this cas-3 the defendant was charged with offering sheep infected with lice, for sale at Uulcombo on tho 12th of April last. A tine of 20s with 7s expenses was ulso inflicted in this case. Defendants pleaded in each of the abore cases, that they previously dipped their sheep with sheep dip. and had used more llinn the qumtity prescribed in the directions. His Worship said the onus rested witlt the settlers to see that they used a proper dip, and he had no option- but to impose the minimum penalty. (Left Silting.)
