Correspondence.

AlfOTHfcR VOICE vFROM^PEM. I . ''- . ' •' . BERTOiir. „# -.. : £ TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAII. Sir, — I see by a letter signed " Resilent " in your issue of the 27th that more stores are required in Peuiberton. Who is this " Resident " and does he know what he is writing about ? Is he some one, who has exhausted the patience of the storekeepers already there, and wants another to open, so that he can have a fresh supply of goods "on the long time " ? AS terras my knowledge goes (and it extends over some years), Peinberton in not able to support more stores than it at present owns, viz., two. It certainly had three a short time back, but owing to a want ? of the proper *ind -of' support (uamely jiay up), the proprietor thought best to give in, and retire on his losses. The Post Office Store at the Whare rond is a well stocked place, open about two years. Then, there is another lately opened at the township by Mr Moffatt, what mord does he want? Let "Resident" qr "Enterprise" try storekeeping in the town of Pernberton ; they might then be satisfied that there is no such grand opening as they fancy, and not spend their valuable time, trying to decoy unwary business people into .opening stores, for their own and their llk's espeoial benefit..: , : I am, etc.', A Genuine Resident, Or, One who resides Here. .
