Feilding R.M. Court

Monday, Btu May. (Before Mr Kirton, J.P.) The police charged Federick Lind with tho larceny on the 6th instant of a watch, gold chain, and swivel valued at over £9 the property of Mr Cornish of Beaconsfield, also with stealing a pair of drawers, a singlet, and a handkerchief the property of Mr C. F. Daniel also of Beaconsfield. Constable Tuohy stated that the accused was seen leaving Mr Cornish's house by Mr Cornish and another man on the date mentioned. When the articles were missed from the house, pursuit was at once given, and the accused seeing he was followed made off into the bush. On search being instituted, the articles belonging to Mr Daniel were discovered " planted " in the scrub, but the watch and chain have not yet been found. The constable asked for a remand for eight days, which wan granted, the accused being removed in custody to Wanganui gaol. The police also charged Otto Hasse with the larceny of a silver watch, guard, and greenstone pendant from Mr Harvoy's whare at Taonui, on Thursday last. Constable Tuohy in this case also asked for a remand for eight days, which was granted, tho accused being admitted to bail in the sum of £20. Mr Walter Bailey was accepted as surety for the amount. This was all the business, and the Court adjourned.
