Mr Scobie Mackenzie Attacks the Government

(PEE PUESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, This Day. Mr Scobie McKenzie, at Naseby, made « scathing attack on the Ministerial policy, and alluded to it as a downright imposture from beginning to end. He characterised the Legislative Council appointments as ono of the most flagrant scandals ever perpetrated in tho colony. The Cheviot purchase called for tho strictest enquiry as to the staggering price given for the estate. The Ministerial statements about the progress of settlement, and the reduction of the public debt were similar impostures ; and had the latter been made by the Directors of the Melbourne Banking Company he would not like to say where they would bo now. The whole fabric wa3 built on a foundation of imposture, and the superstructure was cant. He received au enthusiastic vote of coulidence.
