The sentence of death passed on Scott was the subject of a lecture delivered at the City Hall yesterday by Mr James Beard, who argued that Scott was not responsible for his actions, and ought not to bo hanged. This viow %vas disagreed with by another speaker, Mr James Adams, who proposed a motion expressing approval of the verdict of tho jury in the case, There was some disturbance during the proceedings. In anssvor to an interruption from one of the audienoe, Mr Adams said that ho would hang Scott himself if no one else could be found to J do it, and would give the fees to the Blind Institute. Tho voting for and against the motion was about equal.
