The members of the Manchester Bines are reminded of the parade this evening, opposite the Assembly Rooms. A settler on the Ashurst road alleges that the Volunteers left his gate open during the recent sham fight, and allowed 600 sheep to escape. He threatens (sayß ! the Manawatp Times) to claim damages from the Government. A captain of a man-of-war at Portsmouth was pacing the quarter-deck arm-in-arm with a major of Marines. They were discussing the captain's son. " I have tried him for the Britannia, tried hioa for Sandhurst, tried him for the Church. He has failed everywhere. There is no alternative for it ; I must put him in the Marines," — and the major went straight to mess, to tell the story.
