(rEB PBESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland. March 9. A well-known Government surreyor, Mr Rochfort, was found dead in a room at the Star Hotel, K<lukihi, yeslerdar evening. He had only a few moments before eaten a hearty meal. Mrliochfort was engaged on the surrey of a large block of land at the Mokau. He leaves a wife and grown up family in Nel-on. March 10. A political address was given by Sir R. Stout to-night at tho City Hall before a crowded audience. The Mayor presided. Sir R. Stout, who spoke in reply to Mr Rolleston, defended the policy of the present Government, attributing the prosperity of the colony to their judicious administration. He received a vote of thanks.
