Waituna Notes
— ♦- — [FROM OUB OWN COBBBsrON'DENT.I Messrs Younger and Laing, who have the contract for metalling on the Northern line beyond Crabbe's store in the West Wai tapu, have been delayed somewhat on account of the weather. They hope however, now that the weather looks more favourable, to finish their work before the expiration of the contract time. The Northern line will then be metalled as far as the Messrs Welford Bros. There is considerable traffic now on the Northern line in the West Waitapu— it being the main road for all the settlers in the block adjoining, and the Sandon Special Settlement. The village settlement, on the banks of the Waitnna creek in the West Waitapu, is progressing. There is now a blacksmith's shop in addition to the general store, and other buildings are about to be erected. The " burns " in the West Waitapu have not been the best this season. The roads lately metalled in the West Waitapu are kept in excellent condition under the skilful labour of Mr John Woulfe.
