MANAWATU AUTUMN MEETING. The above meeting commenced yesterday, and from a raciug point of view was most successful, the fields being large, the finishes in nearly everj instance close and exciting, and the battle between Morion and Musket in the big event was a treat to witness. £3137 was put through the machine during the dar. Mr Powell as usual was most successful in the manner in which he despatched his fields. Mr Henry in bis handicapping managed to conceal the winners very well, good dividends being paid, Below are the results:— Flying Handicap, of 50 sons.— Swordbolt, I ; Tulloch, 2 ; Pomsettia, 3. Divideud £3 16s. First Hack Hurdles, of 40 soys. — Unity, 1 ; Primus, 2 ; Defence, 3. Dividend £8 19s. Mr R. Cameron was fined £5 for not scratching Honesty, and F, Potts was fined £1 Is for not riding in costume. Maiden Hack Huhdles, of 20 soys.— Nikau, 1 ; Wanderer, 2 ; Elaine, 3. Dividend £25 18s. Potango and Mako Mako fell, their riders G. Laing and Seccombe being much injured. Manawatu B.C. Handicap, of 200 soya. — Morion, 1 ; Musket, 2 ; Lottie, 3. Dividend £9 Bs. A magnificent finish between the placed horses. Musket just failing to get up, with Lottie very close. Fibst Hack Flat Handicap, of 30 soys. — Eye, 1 ; Jewel, 2 ; Weloome Nat, 3. Divideud £6 10s. Borough Handidap, of 50 sovs.— Ua, 1 ; Whimsical, 2 ; Stockfish, 3. Dividend £9 Us. Scukby Hack Handicap, of 20 soys. — Stockboy, 1 ; Hippodaroia, 2 ; Whitekarana, 3. There were only 8 tickets on the winner who was paying a dividend of £43. A protest was entered against Stockboy by the owner of the second horse, on the ground that he was entered in a wrong name. After hearing evidence the Stewards decided to give their decision at 11.30 to-day. Napier, March 1. The following acceptances have been declared for the HAWXs'd BaY CUP, oi 400 eovß . Melbourne, March 1. St Hippo was scratched for all engagements at V.R.C- Autumn Meeting at 12.30 yesterday, owing to an injury to his back. The betting market is dull. Gaillardia executed a great trial prior to leaving Queonscliffe, where Leph and Etra Weenie are displaying excellent form.
