The Australian Floods
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne, February 23. The Argus says that the damage done by the floods will amount to many millions sterling The estimate of loss by the Brisbane merchants alone is two millions. Brisbane, February 23. Owing to the floods the channels in the river have silted up, and several vessels have grounded. Until the river is re-sar-veyed vessels will be tendered off the bar. February 24. The flood relief fund amounts to Jt'l6,ooo. Great distress is snre to prevail in Gympie, where six hundred miners have been thrown out ot employment. It will be fully three months before the miners can resume work. I Quite two hundred houses were washed | away. Messrs Reid and Gray, Dunedin, have cabled Jt'aO to the Mayor of Brisbane, as a contribution to the Queensland Relief Fund. The committee of the Queensland Relief Fund will meet at. Mr Bray'e office on Monday night at eight o'clock when the canvassers will hand in to the treasurer the several amounts of their subscription lists. Messrs C. Bray, senr., and George Bartholomew collected £19 in the sale yards yesterday afternoon on behalf of the Queensland Relief Fund, a result in satisfactory and gratifying to all interested in tbis worthy object.
