Judge Richmond delivered judgment^ the suit brought by McKinnon against the Racing Club to recover the value of the Telegraph Stnkes won by a horse whose nomination was sent to Dunedin in error. He held the receipt of the nominations at the post office did not fulfil the conditions laid down, but they should have been in the hands of the secretary, at the Club Hotel, by the appointed time. The action of the stewards in accepting them was ultra vires. Judgment for plaintiff, with costs of the lowest scale. Advice has been received to*day that the Victorian Banks hare reduced the rate of interest to four per cent for 12 months deposits.
