Independant Order of Good Templars
A tea and concert were hold in the foresters' ilall yesterday evening in connection with the •' Hi'»t> "f b'eihhng " 1.0. G.T. At 6.30 about SO guests sat i down to a substantial tea the tables, which were tastefully dec >mtecl with flowers ami evergreen.*, bum-; presided over by Slaters Worsfuld, L'tul C 2), Bilderbock, Bennett, Guiti.--, Wliisker, and McKeague. The first business after tea, was the mvestituro of tin; officers with the new Rogaliu. At S o'clock Bro. Jolly C.T. took the chair, when iim iollowiug programme was gone through very suecossfully, Bro Aitken guvo a pianoforte solo, Bro Baker thon sang " Rocked in the cradle of the deep " vory well. Sister Whisker recited " A cup of uhn-et " capitally. " Robin Adair '' n;id feelingly suug by Miss Frasor, fullowod by a song from Miss Curtis with violin uccompanimeut by Miss B. Curtis, which was admiiably sung, Sister Poad next gave a very pretty little song, Mr I'eikius' recitatiou " The affrighted topor " demanded an eucore, when he responded with the comical " Paddy and the pi*." Songs from Bro Gould and Suter Bilderbeck then followed, after which a rocitution bj* Mr Downey, and a song from Mr Baker entitled " The anchor's weighed " led to an enthusiastic encore, when ho kindly gave " The Old Sexton." Sister Bennett who has a very sweet voice, then sang " He wipes the tear " in a most pleasing manner, Bro Bennett closing the programmee with " Nil Desjioraudum " which was met with an enthusiastic encore. This geutlemau has a very powerful yoice which he knows how to make the most use of. A coffee supper wound up a very pleasaut evening's amusement, and the company dispersed about 10 o'clock.
