Manchester Road Board
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held to-day. Present — Messrs Lethbridge (chairman), Purkiss, Pearce, and Booth. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and the following correspondence was then dealt with : — From the Treasury, forwarding £285, being 75 per cent on subsidy of £380, due to the Board under the Acts of 1885, and 1892. From F. J. Halsci, Tinakori road, Wellington, forwarding tracings of property aa desired. From D. D. Walker, Watershed road, complaining that Samuel Shepherd runs the whole of his stock on the Watershed road, and has done so for years, contrary to a resolution passed by the Board on the sth of November last, and further suggesting that a ranger be appointed, and a pound erected at Ashurst. From Dr Monckton notifying the Board of two cases of diphtheria at Mr Phillips', on the Kimbolton Road. From H. Reeve, requesting a renewal of his licence to slaughter large and small oattle on section 6, sub section 0, ManChester Block. From D. and W. Manson, re-cutting down or grubbing up the gorse on road line fronting their properties, and stating that the work had been done by J. J. Patterson as per contract enclosed. Messrs Manson further stated, that the work had not been done as satisfactorily as it should have been, and offering to have it gone over again if the Board so desired. From the Colonial Secretary, approving of the loan of L 1042 for the construction of the Aorangi bridge. From T. H. Whitehead requesting to be put on the rate roll in respect of section 6, sub division L, in lieu of Alfred Gardner, and from tha latter, requesting his name may be substituted in place of T. H. Whitehead in respect of sections 85, 86, 35, 86, and 37, situated in Ashurst. From the Lands aad Survey Office, returning plans of roads which the Board proposes to close, and approving of the same, under the " Public Works Act," and further stating that the names of adjoining property-owners have been entered on the plan. If the land is to be sold to the adjoining owners, it will be necessary for tne Board to proceed as required by the 95th clause of the Public Works Act, 1892. (Left sitting.)
