An Extraordinary Case
A girl of 17, residing with her parents at Adelaide, has been in a trance since last Thursday — ten days. She had not been well for years, suffering slightly from hysteria. On the 201 h October, she wont to bed and fell into a trnace, which lasted till 31st October, On the 17th November, she had a relapse, and elopt continuously till 25th Novomber. On 12th January a third attack took possos sion of her, and she lived for ten days between life and death. It was found impossible to arouse her by ordinary means, and even a strong electrical current applied to the soles of hor feet took some minutes to effect any change — in oue case three and in another six minutes elapsing before the patient gave signs of feeling the shock. By electrioity alone was her medical attendant able to sufficiently arouse tho girl for a little while, so that he could force her to take nourishment in liquid form. When she woke up she was conscious of all that had taken place, but devoid of feeling iv her legs below the knees, and in hor arms, neck, and chest. — Post correspondent. _____^^^^__
